Team Hawaii
Based out of Honolulu, Hawaii, Team Hawaii played for one season in the NASL in 1977. The team started out in Texas as the San Antonio Thunder, but packed up for Hawaii after two seasons there. The team brought in small crowds that looked even smaller in the 50,000 seat Aloha Stadium. Team Hawaii did not qualify for the playoffs either, posting an 11-15 record. Living on an island with high travel costs to the mainland and low attendance, Team Hawaii reportedly lost half a million to a million dollars in one year alone. The franchise then moved to Tulsa and became the Tulsa Roughnecks until 1985.
