Memphis Rogues
The Memphis Rogues only lasted a few years but they left behind one of our favorite logos of a kickin’ elephant. The Rogues started play in the NASL in 1978 at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis but didn’t fare well as an expansion franchise. In three seasons, they were consistently one of the poorer playing NASL clubs. However, when the league tried an indoor campaign in 1980, the Rogues moved indoors to the Mid-South Coliseum and drew great crowds and played great soccer. Their great run would end up seeing them fall in the title game to Tampa Bay. After that single indoor season, they were sold and moved to Calgary, Alberta, where they played one season as the Calgary Boomers before folding.
