Boston Beacons
The Beacons Beacons started in 1967 as a franchise and founded the National Professional Soccer League (NPSL). Owned by a prominent group of Bostonians, the USA and NPSL merged to form the North American Soccer League (NASL) shortly after NPSL’s conception. The Beacons did not qualify for the NASL playoffs and after one year of playing at Fenway Park, the team folded in October 1968.
