Los Angeles & So Cal Lazers
The So Cal Lazers and Los Angeles Lazers, while sharing a similar logo, were actually two separate teams. The first was the So Cal version, a one-year American Soccer League (ASL) team in 1978. The team played at Murdock Stadium in Torrence, California, current home of El Camino College. The Lazers did quite well, winning 15 of 24 games and pulling in good attendance but their owned would throw in the towel after one year.
The Los Angeles Lazers Lazers lasted quite a bit longer, as they played seven seasons in Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) at the Forum starting in 1982-83. While they did hang around a while, these Lazers weren’t particularly successful attracting small crowds of 3,000 - 5,000 in the 15,000+ seat Forum and never having particularly successful seasons on the field. They would fold after the 1988-89 season.
