San Francisco Fog
Like many other soccer teams during this era, the San Francisco Fog played in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) for one short year. Originally the Detroit Lighting, they picked up and left the Midwest for San Fran’s Cow Palace in 1980. It didn’t end up being the right move, because during their first season in 1980, the San Francisco Fog finished with the worst league record (11-29) and also had the worst attendance.
After losing millions of dollars, the team moved to Kansas City in 1981 and became the Kansas City Comets. During their time as the Comets, the team actually became a 1980s indoor soccer success story.
